Traditionally, CRP is widely used as an inflammation/infection marker in the Scandinavian countries. Neutrophils play an important role in the early defense against infectious diseases. When neutrophils are activated they release biomarkers such as calprotectin. We will present data on the use of plasma calprotectin as an infectious disease biomarker.
